Is it still Bayliss plus 3 others as selectors (Whittaker, Angus Fraser & some other bloke)?
I thought Strauss was going to sack the other 3 after Bayliss, Cook & Anderson all thought Anderson was fit to play v Pakistan & the others wouldn't pick him?

Bayliss doesn't watch early or late season county cricket as he is probably back in Sydney knocking back POTS at the Flaming Galah pub at Curl Curl.

Maybe scouting new talent isn't part of Bayliss' job description?

What's it like in the 1980's, Westside?

And there's massive amounts of TV coverage of county championship cricket.

Doubt the selectors lug video gear around with them.

I wouldn't want a coach/selector, to chose a player based on a player's highlights reel.

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at Mohali
A man earning his money, in such an important role, can't spend a couple of hours watching videos of players that are being lined up to play in his team?

Right, glad we've cleared that up.

So, the Aussie hasn't even seen the next 2 players in line to play for England? FMOB

Given that any county player could have played a maximum of 72 days county championship in the summer, the England coach had 7 tests ( 5 days playing and probably 3 days build up) and a dozen ODI and T20 games (plus build up days), doesn't leave him much time to look at potential recruits.

That's the selectors' jobs.

Bayliss said this about the last few players that came into the side.
I don't think he had seen Hameed or Duckett or watched any county cricket.

Gary Ballance, the other batsman in England's squad, is also out of form, so the tourists are likely to call on a player from the Lions squad, with Durham's Keaton Jennings and Middlesex's Nick Gubbins the most likely candidates.

"I haven't seen any of those," said Bayliss. "I'll be relying on the other selectors there.

"Hopefully we can come up with a name in the next 24 hours. The replacement will be a top-order player."

I think every thought Ben stokes has is an angry one

Re: 3rd Test: India v England at Mohali
I wonder what Ben Stokes thinks.
Bowled himself into the ground taking 5 wickets and then has to back up batting in the last half hour and gets chopped off.
Then watches an opening batsman come in at 8 and face 156 balls after not fielding at all as well.
Reckon he might punch another locker. Maybe with a face in front of it.

All things considered that wasn't an atrocious second innings score in the end thanks to root woakes and some brilliance from hameed. Stupid run out though.

Ashwin has played 42 Tests and 29 of them have been in Asia where he has taken 194 of his 235 Test wickets.
He averages 21 in India .... 34 in England .... & 55 in Australia.

awful really.

At least 100 light in the first innings, and not much better second time around.
